Following previous videos in which he subjected himself to Hafthor “Thor” Bjornsson’s punishing strongman workout and even got punched square in the chest while taking part in a sparring session, YouTuber and bodybuilder Jesse James West recently reunited with The Mountain for a different kind of workout. This time, he‘s assuming the role of coach, and they both grind their way through a classic bodybuilding arm workout.
Throughout the workout, the former World’s Strongest Man and ten-time Iceland’s Strongest Man speaks about his burgeoning boxing career: he is fresh from his victory against fellow strongman-turned-boxer Eddie Hall in their long-awaited grudge match. “There are things I could have done better,” says Bjornsson. “But I won, so…”
First off they warm up with some lightweight shoulder press, before increasing the weight. “My muscles are cracking because I haven’t lifted weights in so long,” says Bjornsson, whose boxing training revolved much more around bodyweight exercises.
“I can tell you’re a strongman,” jokes West. “You chuck your weights at the ground.”
They follow this with sets of cable side raises, barbell curls, overhead extensions and dumbbell punches. Bjornsson also speaks about who inspired him to pursue a career in fitness (his dad), and what kind of music he listens to in order to stay amped up while he’s training. Turns out he’s a “huge Eminem fan.”
They then finish the workout off with the most important skill that every professional bodybuilder needs to have: posing.
